When you fall in love for real, you usually have eyes for that person only.

You feel complete only when you are around them and you would do anything in your power to spend every single moment of your free time with this person.

When you are in this initial stage of your relationship, you feel like this is everything you need in life and that this person is the only one you want by your side.

You forget about your hobbies and interests. You forget about everything and everyone who makes you happy besides them.

But most importantly—many people completely forget about their friends and family as well.

If you have a group of girlfriends who are single, you simply feel like you don’t have anything to talk about with them anymore.

You even start feeling a little bit sorry for them because they haven’t had the chance to find their Mr. Right.

In the beginning, you continue seeing your friends but not as often as you used to.

And they probably understand you. They know that you have a new priority in your life now and they don’t expect you to be with them 24/7.

But as time goes by, it looks like you start forgetting all about them. You stop talking to them on the phone every day and you guys don’t see each other for months.

With time, you get used to having your boyfriend as the only person you need in your life.

And while this is a great thing and while your boyfriend being your best friend is something you should be thankful for, forgetting about your friends is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.

I am not advising you to sacrifice your relationship for your friends.

After all, your boyfriend is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and he should be your partner in every sense of that word, so it is natural for you to put him first.

But please, try to make a balance and try to make time for your friends even when you fall in love.

Because these are the people who were there for you at your best and at your worst. And the people who always loved you the same.

These were the people who made you laugh and who wiped away your tears.

The people who always had your back and who always supported you, no matter what. The people who were there for you through thick and thin.

The people who always believed in you and who always held your hand through all of life’s challenge and difficulties.

The first people you called to share every piece of good and bad news in your life.

The people who were there for you when you got a promotion, who celebrated your birthdays as if they were their own and the people who pushed you forward whenever you felt down.

But also the people who were there for you through your every heartbreak or family emergency.

The ones who never left your side when you just needed someone to talk to and someone to listen to you.

The people who shared your problems, your tears of joy and laughter. The people who never left you hanging. These are the people who helped you become the person you are today.

And these will be the people who will be there for you if it happens that you break up with this guy you are with today.

I know you hope for this relationship to last for the rest of your life but the reality is that things might not go as planned, as much as you want them to.

And if this ever happens, these will be the people who will take you back.

The people who will spend hours and hours listening to you complain about your break-up, if it ever happens.

The ones who will comfort you and who will show you that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

These are the people who will help you get over this guy and to move on with your life. The people who will help you get back on your feet.

So please, don’t cut them out of your life now that you are the happiest. No matter how busy you are, make an effort to make room for them.

Trust me—you’ll regret not doing so. But when you realize this, it might be too late.
