We are all familiar with the fact that breakups are the ultimate pain in the ass and sometimes they can also be weird or disturbing.

When someone mentions the word “breakup,” the first thing that comes to our mind is that feeling of uneasiness and pain of a broken heart.

But, no one seems to talk about their upsides.

We forget that wise old saying: “If you want to see the rainbow, you have to deal with the rain.” We forget that in order to be able to experience something better and greater, we have to deal with the worst first.

If you look at things from another perspective, you will realize that the reason you had to break up at some point is because you simply didn’t get along, they took you for granted, or perhaps you lost trust in each other, which all leads to one major conclusion: You simply weren’t meant to be.

If you look at every breakup as an important lesson that has to be learned the hard way and the opportunity to become closer to meeting the one who is right for you, you will realize that getting dumped isn’t all that bad.

In that vein, here are 10 reasons why getting dumped is actually the best thing that happened to you because you’re far better without them!

1. You weren’t meant to be

As already said, reason number one for why you shouldn’t look at breakup as something totally negative is because you clearly weren’t meant to be.

This means that the breakup was inevitable and the sooner it happens, the better.

Worse than breakup would be wasting your time with someone you have no future with, so in a weird way you should actually be grateful for getting dumped.

2. Growing and learning lessons

Breakups always help us to grow and they teach us valuable lessons that we somehow don’t want to notice because we’re too busy with the negative side of it.

But, indeed, a breakup is an opportunity to grow and learn from your mistakes.

Just as bad things make you appreciate the good ones, a breakup helps you appreciate the better things and times that are about to come, and prepares you to be grateful for them.

3. You didn’t have to be the dumper

No matter how weird it sounds, one of the biggest upsides of being dumped is the fact that you didn’t have to be the dumper.

This means you will have a clean conscience and you will never regret anything.

You will continue living your best life without worrying that you’ve made a mistake by dumping that someone.

4. The ball is in your court

When you’re the one who’s getting dumped, the ball is in your court, which means you have the freedom to choose whether you’ll just leave them without saying a word, whether you’ll yell at them, or whatever else you choose.

Since you’re the one who’s getting dumped, it automatically means you’re the one in a more vulnerable position, so you get to choose how things will end.

You can decide that you don’t want to see them ever again, or you can propose to stay friends.

5. The opportunity to get to know yourself again

Breakups are a perfect opportunity to discover your passions and get to know yourself again.

You have all the time in the world to look for new hobbies, do what makes you happy, and not give a shit about anything or anybody else.

6. More time to focus on your priorities

When you’re in a relationship with someone who’s not right for you, you are more likely to direct all of your energy to that person and as a consequence neglect your own priorities, becoming drained.

But, now that they’re out of your life, you will have more time to focus on positive things instead of solely negative ones.

7. Getting rid of toxicity in your life

Remember that getting dumped means getting rid of toxicity in your life and, believe me, there is nobigger blessing than that.

Waking up in the morning knowing that the levels of toxicity have significantly decreased means being happy and enjoying every second of your time spent with positive people and the ones who truly care about you.

8. Being single and dating again

Getting dumped also means enjoying being single again and doing anything you want.

You have the power to choose whether you’ll date again or rather spend the night binge-watching your favorite TV shows.

You have the power to listen only to yourself and your gut instead of dancing to other people’s tunes.

9. Enjoying spending more time with your friends

When you’re with someone who’s definitely not right for you, you will waste lots of your energy in stressing about it and then complaining about it to your friends.

But, once you get rid of them, you will enjoy spending more time with your friends and talking about other things as well, instead of your shitty boyfriend or girlfriend.

And that’s why getting dumped isn’t all that bad, right?

10. Getting closer to meeting the one who is meant for you

Every time you get dumped, you get closer to meet the one who is meant for you.

You get closer to living the life you deserve and being with someone who will be worthy of being with you.

When you look at things that way, getting dumped becomes the best thing that happened to you.

Whenever you start doubting it, just remind yourself of the following wise words by Alexander Graham Bell: “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
